Hair Color Tips for Every Age

Sometimes you change your mind about coloring your hair. Or maybe you change your mind about going gray. Or maybe you just don’t like the hair color you have.

Whatever you do, don’t just walk away from your current salon when your color guy or girl decides to change things up. Find out what color will most flatter you, as well as –

  • How long it’s been since your last color – if you’ve had drastic changes, it’s best to hold off a little while to avoid unforeseeable disasters.
  • Why you hate your color – if you’ve had it for awhile, it may finally be getting old and you’re sick of it. Or it may be because someone else has done it and you want to emulate that look. Either way – it’s not a good idea to emulate anyone else’s color, unless you truly are a fan.

If you color your hair now, be aware that it will most likely take a few goes to get it back to its previous rich brown color. You’ll be proud of how great your color is, but know that it will not be easy to get it back to its old self.

If you’re going to start coloring your hair, be sure to start with baby steps. If you’re going from light brown to dark brown, it will take a few trips to the salon to get you back to your natural color. Color will deposit its color on your hair, and that color will change as time goes on.

For example, if you’ve had red highlights in the past, but you’ve put a lot off for peach this summer, you’re going to need to go back to red next year.

It’s hard to predict how your hair will turn out a few weeks before you go in for your color change. But, if you’re anything like me, at least one change is for sure – you’ll need to see your stylist and match it to your skin tone, keep practicing to get that perfect color, and know that drastic changes are coming.

The trouble is that for four years your hair has been colored black – in black.uffy. Blaine has put a lot off for that to happen, but she’s going to look beautiful regardless, so right now, she’s going to look beautiful.

You know what though? I’m not going to do that again. I’m going to start planning for next year. I’m going to start making improvements on my hair.

I’m going to make it my life. I’m going to get out of the rut I’m in. And, maybe someone will see the real you and appreciate you for the character you have tattooed on your head.

Right now, you would be happy to put some color back into your hair. Covering the gray isn’t working – it dries out your hair. And all of those bright colors are nice, but they’re not natural.

You’ll always be you, but covering up the gray won’t help – it will just make it harder to see the real you.

Color, when applied properly, can dramatically brighten up your natural color. Ask your stylist to recommend the best colors for you, highlight the different textures of your hair, and give yourself an opportunity to show off your natural assets.

Then, you’ll know that when someone asks “Is that you? Is… you… there? “You can feel confident that the person is in love with you.
